Book Club Resources

Are you starting a book club? Just joining one? If you’re looking for more information about book clubs or need new ideas for your current group, check out the following sites for lots of great resources and tips!

Library Resources

  1. checkNoveList Did you enjoy a title and want something similar? NoveList can offer readalikes based on genre, title, author, subject, location, and much more! This is also an excellent resource for information on your favourite authors, books in a series, and award winners.
  2. checkFiction Connection Another great site for finding books that are similar to your favourite reads. You can enter an author’s name, book title, or subject to find something new, or browse the site using the “word cloud” on the Fiction Connection’s home page—you never know what great new title you might find based on your choices! For use in library only.
  3. checkNon-Fiction Connection Find a non-fiction title similar to one you've already read and liked, or search by keyword, genre, topic, time frame, setting, and more to find the book you're looking for. Non-Fiction Connection is a tool for finding the non-fiction reading you're looking for. For use in library only.
  4. checkWhat do I Read Next?What Do I Read Next? includes more than 100,000 recommended titles, 60,000 plot summaries, and awards information from 562 awards to help uncover new reading adventures, find long-remembered favourites, and discover award-winning titles.

Book Club Websites

  1. checkBookBrowse.comWith more than 500 free reading group discussion guides, BookBrowse also offers some great advice on starting a book club as well as interviews of interesting book club groups.
  2. checkBookbuffet.comBookbuffet.com serves book groups that want to be better informed, organized, up-to-date, and connected with other readers, authors, and publishing professionals. You can even add your own group, start a new one, or join an online group!
  3. checkLitLovers A great site that includes guides, book discussion ideas, and lists of popular book club books.
  4. checkReadingGroupGuides.comThe online community for reading groups. You’ll find more than 3,000 reading group guides, suggested titles, reviews, and interviews with authors and librarians, as well as the latest book news.
